RE: Leaf Springs VS. Helper Springs

I know it wasn't one of your two choices but I'd highly recommend you look at Timbrens. (www.timbren.com) They don't affect your unloaded ride quality and do a great job of leveling things out when you are loaded. Plus they are inexpensive, relatively speaking, and are definately "do it yourself" friendly. I've installed them in my last two trucks and all you need is the proper size ratchet wrench to do the job. Another vote for Timbrens!

How did they get that thing out?

RE: Looking at getting a new WD setup

Another vote for equalizer! They are the best bang for the buck IMHO.

RE: Dodge 5.9L vs 6.7L

Heres to the hope that the 6-Speed auto will be able to retrofit once my tranny needs an upgrade...

RE: Installation of E Track in garage for hauling Bikes

I just installed my E-track today. I used the 24" pieces of E-track since I didn't want to have to cut it. I put two pieces along the back and two pieces along the sides about a foot apart and 7.25" from the walls and ramp to allow the chock to be attached to the E-track. I attached the E-track with 1/4 X 1" stainless lag bolts and liquid nails in every pre-drilled hole. I have heard from many that have done it this way that you do not need to put one in each hole but I did, and feel that it is very secure. I found a place that sells a motorcycle chock that will attach to the E-track for $40 so I bought one of those for my dirt bike and I cross strap the quad.

RE: Raptor Gas Tank Issue

I had some issues with the fuel tank on my Desert Fox right after I bought it. It seems that there were a few loose hose clamps, one broken hose clamp and a seal on the sending unit that was improperly installed, I had gas dripping from the bottom of the trailer on the first trip but it was all fixed as soon as I mentioned it to Northwood. I suspect you have a few minor things going on as well, the dealer should fix you right up.

RE: Need a new hitch

RVW seems like the best deal going right now...

RE: Need a new hitch

Thanks Les, that one was listed at $375 and that is prior to shipping, that same set up should be about that much new 'with' shipping... I was hoping for a good deal if it was a used one... Thanks for the tip though!

Need a new hitch

I think I have decided on an equalizer 1400# or 1200#. Now I just need a good deal, does anyone know of the cheapest place out there to get one? I might even consider used if I coud find one...

Congrats on the new TH! We just got back from a 2500 mile maiden voyage and love our DF 24AS.

RE: Where's everybody going for Pres Day weekend?

Don't know where we will be riding. We are in Vegas right now but we pulled everything down with us to visit my mother in Barstow so now we just have to pick a location...

RE: E-Track

That is great info, there are a number of heavy truck places on the edge of town, I will get on the phone in the AM. Thanks!

RE: E-Track

That is certainly better than the price here... I think eack tie-down ring is about $10-15. enough for a few bikes would be well over $200, way past reasonable! the picture I posted is for two tracks, 4 foot each with four tie-down rings for about $60 retail. the holes are about every 4-6 inches. I have used it for years to tie down everything from big streetbikes to quads and everything else...

RE: E-Track

I saw some of that at the local RV dealer, I think the track was about $71 for one 6 foot piece. It also only had one screw hole every 10 or 12 inches, not strong enough to just use 1" lagbolts... I don't like the e-track as I believe it takes up too much room and is too large. I use the smaller tracks made for aircraft transportation that have been moved over to motorcycle work. http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/pitposse_1987_128544760 Not sure where you can pick it up where you are at.... I know where to get it in VA....

RE: E-Track

Thanks for the possibilities, I am trying to find some, so we can use them by tomorrow, I tried a few of the ideas listed, but am not having much luck. I am going to try the local fleet supply today, Chris

E-Track

Where did you guys that have E-Track buy it? Local vendors? I would like to buy some prior to our trip monday, but can't seem to find any locally...

RE: About to pull the trigger on a 2007 Desert Fox 24AS

Thanks for all the replies! We are the proud new owners of the 2007 DF 24AS. We really didn't feel that the interior was that spartan. It is much nicer than the Salem 25ft we traded, and this one is so much more useful, but man oh man she is heavy and much larger feeling considering that she is a foot shorter...

RE: About to pull the trigger on a 2007 Desert Fox 24AS

The TT we have now is 25ft FR Salem LE and this is DF 24, so the actual living space is nearly the same without the toys loaded. The biggest diff is the bathroom space, our TT has a decent bath and this one is a bit smaller and spread out. The bed, while a queen, is up against the front wall, and on ours it is a walk around so that will take some getting use to, but of course we can't load any toys in ours either... The DF line seems like one of the best out there and I am sure we will love it once we start using it. We are hoping to get someone out there with opinions prior to our 100 trip down there this afternoon.
